This is pretty much like my previous post, except it deals with manga instead of games. It won’t quite be structured the same as the first and will probably contain more manga than the last post contained of games. Manga seems to be increasing in popularity in the States, therefore increasing the demand and production of localized manga. There are a couple of manga that I’ve had my mind on since late 2006.

Recently, meaning today, I started reading a new manga series by the name To-love-ru. I stumbled across this series when reading a post on Hongfre. It just happened to be mentioned. Very little was said about it, but I decided to check it out due to curiosity. I’m really glad I did. It’s an enjoyable mix of romance, comedy, and ecchi.

As part of my latest shipment of manga, I got thee last volume of Galaxy Angel Beta. It ends the storyline that begun in the first volume of its predecessor. Now that they have returned Prince Shiva to the White Moon, they are now focused on getting rid of the threat that Prince Etruria poses to the Moon Goddess. Even though I enjoyed the volume, I always feel as though something is missing when I read Galaxy Angel.

There’s a nice little sale at Discount Anime DVD. All books are 35% off right now. There’s seems to be a sale for yaoi and hentai titles and a Halloween sale for select anime and books, as well, but of course, I’m more interested in the slashed prices for manga. (more…)

The first volume of Stray Little Devil was pretty much an impulse buy. It had a pretty cover and the art seemed good enough so I decided to buy it. I had no idea what the manga was about at all. I’m glad that the manga is good enough so that it doesn’t feel like I wasted my money.

The manga takes place in a world populated by angels, demons, and monsters. It stars a girl who has been mysteriously transported to this world due to a summoning spell she attempted to show her friend but failed. The girl, Pam, finds out that she turned into a demon.

She enrolls in this training facility for other young demons-in-training. There, she meets her instructor and two fellow demon trainees and finds out that she needs to find a familiar since in this world, every demon and angel requires one.

Pam, the main heroine of this cute little story.
If you’re expecting the kind of story where demons do evil things and the main character slowly turns into some type of evil being, you’re looking at the wrong manga. Stray Little Devil’s main draw in is its cute character designs and cute stories to go along with it. This is the story of some average, naive high school girl trying to learn to cope in a new world.

With me and most cute manga, I really like the art style. I’m sure those who don’t like loli-looking girls won’t agree with me, though (they would probably hate Ichigo Mashimaro, too.) I’ll let the scans do the talking.

Note: I finally got Lights. That makes me happy. Now the only thing to do is get to 999,999 pts. to get the last challenge mode skin. Then I can go on to the other modes so I can get even more skins. …I’m not addicted.

I seem to be mysteriously acquiring vast amounts of material lately. I’m sure it has nothing to do with my recent expenditures on eBay. I think I did well scoring 6 volumes of Sgt. Frog (Keroro Gunso) for about $22 as well as receiving Valkyrie Profile: Lenneth, Lumines (which you already know), and Metal Gear Ac!d. I’d say that that was a pretty good deal. Despite being busy these past weeks, I have managed to scrap enough time to finish the all of the Keroro Gunso books I recieved.

You might remember from an earlier post that I ordered about 10 volumes of manga from righstuf recently. Well, I actually got these last week but I didn’t have that much time to read them since I was busy preparing for a Chem exam that I didn’t do well on. Meh, at least I did better than the average (not that hard to do if the average is 54%) Unfortunately, my scanner is back home and I don’t have the USB connector for my cell phone, so no photos.

Hello everybody. I won’t be able to make as many posts this summer as I did over the school year. I’m currently enrolled at a summer program at MIT (Massachusetts Institute of Technology if you’ve never heard of it,) and I wil be quite busy. Plus, I’m still playing catch-up for The Melancholy of Suzumiya Haruhi, Pani Poni Dash, and Keroro Gunso as well as subjecting myself to Amaenaideyo.

If I do post anytime soon, it will probably be about Dragon Quest VIII or about an artist who I have bookmarked. Afer owning it since Christmas, I’m finally relatively close to beating it (although, apparently that means nothing for me since I was “realitvely close” with Lunar for month or two.)

In other news, I recently purchased a buttload of manga (again.)

  • Oh My Goddess 23
  • Love Hina 11
  • Gundam, Mobile Suit Ecole du Ciel 03
  • Cardcaptor Sakura 03
  • Kamichama Karin 04
  • Galaxy Angel Beta 03
  • DearS 04
  • School Rumble 02
  • Strawberry Marshmallow 01
  • Tsubasa, RESERVoir CHRoNiCLE 08
  • Chibi Vampire 01 (Karin)
  • Stray Little Devil 01
  • Pita-Ten 06
I’m sure I’ll be busy whenever I recieve all of these.

Or at least that’s what I should have said when I left for Paris on the 7th. Oh well, no harm done. The trip was pretty nice. Lots of beautiful buildings and stuff. But this post really isn’t about my trip to Paris; it’s more about a comparison between manga localization in France and the USA. Or course, I’m not a expert about this (hey! I was only in France for a couple of days,) there are a few glaring differences between manga in France and manga in America.

Ah, it’s always nice when new stuff comes in the mail. This time I decided to go the tradition route and order through Amazon.co.jp, instead of through Yahoo! Japan Auctions by using a deputy service.

Asuna is a clumsy spacenoid, from Zeon, attending Ecole du Ciel, a Federation mobile suit academy. She’s a pretty normal girl. She has some friends, worries about her small breast size (don’t worry about those, Asuna, they’re cute as is!) and a crush. Pretty normal, except for one key difference, her father is the infamous Professor Elmarit of the Zeon Defense Academy. During the One Year War, her father made Asuna use many mobile suit simulators to train her (for something that we don’t know, although it is probably newtype related.)
