So, I’m just now starting to catch up with Spring
I’m ashamed to say this, but I’ve basically watched none of the “new” Spring 2007 anime, besides Gurren Lagann, that is. Since Spring started, I’ve watched 12 episodes of Gurren Lagann, one episode of Hitohira and one episode of Murder Princess. Yea, pretty pathetic. I do sort of plan on fixing it. I’m really looking at Lucky Star right now.
My laptop is coming soon and other assorted stuff
After a month of my laptop being in computer rehab, Alienware has finally decided that it had recovered enough to be allowed to come back home. I hope that this time, it will have recovered for good; rehab takes such a long time.
I’ve finally started catching up on some anime. This may come as a surprise, but I never actually finished Honey and Clover II until now. Yea, I know, so sad. I was kind of dissatisfied with the ending, but mainly cuz what I wanted to happen didn’t happen. I’m sure this happens to a lot of drama fans, so it’s ok.
Speaking of that, I found the PV for the opening song while looking for an mp3. The song’s stuck in my head now -_-;;. I must say, this is one really weird video. You can see it here. I assume all of you have divX codecs installed.
I also finally started watching Spring 2007 anime. I’m having trouble finding out which ones I should watch though. I’ve watched 7 episodes of Gurren Lagann and the first of Gigantic Formula, but that’s about it. I’m open to any recommendations that you guys have. I’m think Idolm@ster might be a bit cool.
And for the last thing in this post, DiscountAnimeDVD is having a 30% off Tokyopop sale. I already have 14 items, most of the Tokyopop titles, lined up on my cart. I’m ready to order once the 14th volume of Negima! hits on the 29th (or doesn’t hit and gets an ugly “arrival delayed” message on the page).
So, apparently this blog is a full year old
And I totally forgot about it. The actually birthday was on the 22nd of the last month, but now is better than ever. Since then, this site has seen about 26K hits and 48K page views. Honestly, I’m not quite sure about those numbers. I think the data is brought up by a lot of people coming here from Google Images or something, but no matter.
But unfortunately, I can’t show you guys any scans from the books. My spare laptop is having some HDD troubles and I doubt that I could make it last long enough to do a single scan (much less run The GIMP to clean the scan up for a bit.)
When I’m sure that my computer will actually work long enough to scan some pictures, I’ll upload some pictures and reviews for you guys, until then, I’ll just give you the names.
- Korean Illustrations: Art by various Korean artists, including the very famous Kim Hyung Tae.
- Girls Girls Girls!: The title says it all. Pictures of various bishoujo by various artists. The cover is by Tony Taka.
- Sweet Girls: Basically the same as abouve just with different various artists. I forget the cover artist’s name at the moment >_<
- Kozue Amano Illustration Works III: Cielo: Probably my favorite of the bunch. Most of the artwork, quite predictably, is based on Aria, no surprise there.
- Nanatsuiro ★ Drops Artworks: Features art from the game of the same name. Art by Noizi Ito.

Usually this would be some type of review or impressions, but I decided it wouldn’t really be worth it for a calendar. I rather decided to scan and upload the calendar to mediafire here. Have fun!
Edit:The file changed, please download the updated version.
Yep, got a ton of new manga again. This post is a bit late since I didn’t have anything to take the picture of the books with. I’ve already finished all of them. If I were to pick a favorite, it would easily be Welcome to the NHK. It was very hard for me to put it down while I was reading it and I am eagerly awaiting the second volume (aah, doesn’t come out until February.)
Firefox 3 Alpha release (Gran Paradiso):
It seems as though the alpha 1 for Firefox 3 was released with me not knowing about it. I’m not sure if there’s that much difference between this version and Firefox 2 that users will actually notice. It appears that most of the new features are aimed at developers, not end users. The graphical capabilities of the browser are apparently enhanced. Seeing as I don’t notice that much of an improvement yet, I doubt I’ll use Firefox 3 Alpha 1 as my main browser, unlike what I did with Firefox 2 Alpha 1.
Truthiness voted as the Word of the Year:
If you refer to a post I made earlier in the month, you might catch that I mentioned Merriam-Webster’s Word of the Year poll. Although haruhiism probably didn’t get close to getting on the top ten (I would be surprised if it got ten votes,) at least truthiness is a interesting word. I was afraid that the word would be boring again.
A vote for Haruhiism is a vote for God

It’s time for all followers of Haruhiism to show their support for Haruhi, our one true God. Merriam-Webster is holding a Word of the Year poll for the top ten words of the year (why they would so something like this, I do not know.) Past winners have included such boring words as integrity, electoral, and marriage.
I say we do something new this year. I say that we get as many people as we can to vote for Haruhiism. Sure it may not be a real word in any dictionaries, but even they said that we were allowed to be creative with our choice.
“There are no rules here, so feel free to be creative. If your nomination hasn’t made it into the pages of the dictionary yet, this can be your way to let the Merriam-Webster editors know that it’s a word that deserves to be closely watched.”
Getting up to the top ten words will help spread Haruhiism to the non-believing infidels. Okay, I know I’m being very optimist about this, but might as well try. It will be more interesting then what would otherwise be one of the top ten words.
The link for the poll can be found here. If you’ve been living under a rock for most of 2006 and don’t know what Haruhiism is, I feel sorry for you. I don’t have a good link for it.
I’ve noticed a recent trend lately. A lot of projects involving Noizi Ito are getting turned into anime. Shakugan no Shana and The Melancholy of Suzumiya Haruhi, both novels with Noizi Ito as their illustrator. I’m sure you know that both of those were turned into anime, with one of them becoming immensley, and perhaps creepily, popular.
Of course, that wasn’t some random observation. According to ikimashou, a new anime based on UnisonShift’s h-game Nanatsuiro*Drops. I really don’t know much about the game. I think it may have to deal with some kind of mahou shoujo type story. The game’s character designs are pretty good, though.
I wonder who is going to take charge of producing the anime. I only hope it is done at the same quality that The Melancholy of Suzumiya Haruhi was done. Shakugan no Shana art was terrible. Compared to her art, the anime version looked bland and overall not very appealing.
