It’s been an interesting weekend. The very first thing I wake up to is the sound of my OS dying on my spare laptop (ok, it didn’t make a sound, it just reported that the boot file was corrupted.) Unfortunately, I didn’t have my Vista DVD on me (just a DVD-RW, which this laptop can’t read.) So, no more Windows for this laptop.
I decided to get Ubuntu. I thought getting it would be easy, but I was very, very wrong. Of course, since I didn’t have a computer of my own, I had to rely on a friend to burn me a copy. It was just my luck when the first turned out to be a dud. Of course, it was able to go into Live CD mode before anything wrong happened, which left my laptop to be the suspect for any errors. It wasn’t until trying the 3rd Ubuntu CD (and one Kubuntu DVD,) that I was able to install Ubuntu. Three hours after the initial installation, I was (partially) able to get it working like I wanted it to.

In happier news, I finished GrimGrimoire late, late (and did I mention late?) Thursday night. Ok, it was more like Friday morning at 2 am, but close enough. The game lasted my about 15 hours. It’s almost hard to imagine that I squeezed that much time for it between that Friday and the Monday before it.
I won’t make a whole post about how awesome GrimGrimoire is. I also won’t tell you all to go out and buy it. Actually, I suggest to everyone who only plays the story relevant portions of a game to just rent it. As much as I would love Vanillaware to get money from people so they can make even more games, but this game’s story just isn’t long enough to warrant the $50. Now, if you like doing extra missions (which GrimGrimoire has tons of,) then I would suggest giving this thing a buy. Even though it kind of has a clichéd storyline (Groundhog’s Day, anyone?) it remained entertaining pretty much throughout the entire stoy. I know I’m not the only one who can’t wait until Soul Cradle comes out.
While I’m on the topic of gaming, I have to mention that I’m nearing the end of Shin Megami Tensei: Nocturne. I’m in the last dungeon, fighting the second to last boss (who casts Mahama waaay too much.) My reason seems to be Shijima. That probably doesn’t mean anything those that haven’t played the game. I might make a post about it once I finish.
