Seven Seas Entertainment apparently caved in from the pressure from some very vocal anime fans and canceled Nymphet. Forumers at the Anime News Network forums seem to believe that their discussion about the title brought on this decision. Their discussion mainly focused on how it would change the perception of manga and anime in the United States (ok, most of it had to do with whether the content of the manga was “wrong” or not.)
The thing about this is that the court ruled it was an infringement of copyright even though the users cannot download the music into any cellphone other than their own. The reasoning behind the ruling was that by uploading the files onto a central server, the users were distributing the music files to the company that owns the server, even if the users were the only ones that would be able to access the files.I must ask, what is becoming of Japan? I mean, that doujin thing is bad enough (perhaps worse for me than this Internet server business,) but this is just kind of ridiculous. That kind of practice would probably fly in any other country. It seems that businesses has litigated their way through common sense in the courts again.
*sigh*

Romance of the Three Kingdoms Diary #1
|
| The map of my current game of Romance of the Three Kingdoms. |
As I promised, I’m going to start blogging about my gaming more. As mentioned before, the first game I’m going to blog about is The Romance of the Three Kingdoms. I never knew how long an entry could be until I started writing. I cut this one short since not that much was happening at the time (the first exciting thing that happens is at the end of the post, and for that I decided to leave a cliffhanger.
)
Hopefully this post isn’t too boring or confusing. This is semi-late in the Yellow Turbans scenario. Actaully, the Yellow Turbans have already been eliminated in the game. He Jin was quite aggressive in hunting them down. Actually, as you can tell from the map, he has acquired quite a large territory. I really hope that I won’t have to take him on one day…
As for me, I’m playing as the sovereign Sun Jian. I started off with one city: Xia Pei. From their I colonized the neighboring city of Ben Hai and conquered the nearest Yellow Turban city. From there, I colonized Shou Chun and conquered two other cities, the last of which was Nan Pi, which seems like it will be the center of a lot of drama in the future. Two months worth of details follow.
Yup, finals are done and I’m back at home (for the moment anyway.) Better yet, my laptop finall arrived. Unfortunately, those jerks forgot to replace the graphics card. Even thought that’s the reason why I sent it to the warehouse, they ended up fixing a whole bunch of issues (motherboard, sound card, etc.)
My graphics card has the unfortunate trait of overheating… quite often. I can run Vista just fine and other non-gaming apps, but once I fire up a game of Medieval II: Total War or some Battlefield 2, it starts to overheat. I can play for about 10 minutes before the computer just shuts down. *sigh* What a waste for a Mobility x1800 to not be able to play any games.
Anyway, since I obviously won’t be playing any PC games, I’ll be playing a lot of my games for the PS2. This will mostly include Dragon Quest VIII, Ar Tonelico, and Romance of the Three Kingdoms XI. I’m on the last boss for DQ, so I should be able to finish that up next week (or tomorrow.) I was thinking about starting some kind of gaming diary for strategy games like RotTK and posting it here (kind of like what appears on the “Tom vs Bruce” column in Games for Windows.) Once I have some free time to dedicate to RotTK, I think I’ll start writing about it. Hopefully it will be interesting -_-;;
My laptop is coming soon and other assorted stuff
After a month of my laptop being in computer rehab, Alienware has finally decided that it had recovered enough to be allowed to come back home. I hope that this time, it will have recovered for good; rehab takes such a long time.
I’ve finally started catching up on some anime. This may come as a surprise, but I never actually finished Honey and Clover II until now. Yea, I know, so sad. I was kind of dissatisfied with the ending, but mainly cuz what I wanted to happen didn’t happen. I’m sure this happens to a lot of drama fans, so it’s ok.
Speaking of that, I found the PV for the opening song while looking for an mp3. The song’s stuck in my head now -_-;;. I must say, this is one really weird video. You can see it here. I assume all of you have divX codecs installed.
I also finally started watching Spring 2007 anime. I’m having trouble finding out which ones I should watch though. I’ve watched 7 episodes of Gurren Lagann and the first of Gigantic Formula, but that’s about it. I’m open to any recommendations that you guys have. I’m think Idolm@ster might be a bit cool.
And for the last thing in this post, DiscountAnimeDVD is having a 30% off Tokyopop sale. I already have 14 items, most of the Tokyopop titles, lined up on my cart. I’m ready to order once the 14th volume of Negima! hits on the 29th (or doesn’t hit and gets an ugly “arrival delayed” message on the page).
EDIT:
I know I didn’t stay up for nothing. Blizzard official announced Starcraft 2 in Korea today; South Korea implodes. Read live coverage here.
EDIT: Screenshots here.
In other news, I beat that one boss in Dragon Quest VIII today. You know, that one from the Gamebridge post that kicked my… *ahem.*
So, apparently this blog is a full year old
And I totally forgot about it. The actually birthday was on the 22nd of the last month, but now is better than ever. Since then, this site has seen about 26K hits and 48K page views. Honestly, I’m not quite sure about those numbers. I think the data is brought up by a lot of people coming here from Google Images or something, but no matter.
Romance of the Three Kingdoms XI
The Romance of the Three Kingdoms series has been on my radar ever since the 8th game was released. I was initially excited due to the claims of it being a hardcore strategy game. Having played Dynasty Warriors, I was interested in playing a strategy game set in the same period.
But unfortunately, I can’t show you guys any scans from the books. My spare laptop is having some HDD troubles and I doubt that I could make it last long enough to do a single scan (much less run The GIMP to clean the scan up for a bit.)
When I’m sure that my computer will actually work long enough to scan some pictures, I’ll upload some pictures and reviews for you guys, until then, I’ll just give you the names.
- Korean Illustrations: Art by various Korean artists, including the very famous Kim Hyung Tae.
- Girls Girls Girls!: The title says it all. Pictures of various bishoujo by various artists. The cover is by Tony Taka.
- Sweet Girls: Basically the same as abouve just with different various artists. I forget the cover artist’s name at the moment >_<
- Kozue Amano Illustration Works III: Cielo: Probably my favorite of the bunch. Most of the artwork, quite predictably, is based on Aria, no surprise there.
- Nanatsuiro ★ Drops Artworks: Features art from the game of the same name. Art by Noizi Ito.
The last love song on this little planet
And by love song, I mean a very well rehearsed fan-made lightsaber duel, so I’m not talking about Saikano. I mean, what can be more romantic than a sword duel?
Apparently, there’s this lightsaber duel video that became an Interweb phenomenon called Ryan vs. Dorkman. I never saw it, but they seemed to have just released the sequel to that video. You can watch the video down below, or you can watch the superior divx version here.
My Pokemans: Let me show you them
I finally got Pokemon Diamond in the mail a week ago. I expect posting and overall productivity to go down for a while. Here’s my current team:
- Yoachim: Monferno Lv. 25 (I spelled his name incorrectly
- David: Gyarados Lv. 24
- Lily: Budew Lv. 24
- Ark: Luxio Lv. 25
- Casper: Ghastly Lv. 23
- Grace: Psyduck Lv. 24
My player’s name is Yuri and I have 4 of the badges right now. Unfortunately for me, my college requires all devices accessing its network to register themselves. Unfortunately, the DS seems incapable of doing so, so I have no friend code now. Darn, and I wanted to take advantage of Japanese players, too.
Edit: Poster #2 told me how to do it. Kudos go to him. My friend codde is 2620 9204 5749
