I was recently reading the newest Games for Windows issue when I stumbled upon their best free games feature. There were some cool looking games in there (although, some were mods which I wouldn’t exactly label as “free” since you need to buy the game they are based on first…) One of the free games really caught my eye. Yup, you guessed it: RAY-HOUND.

This game is similar to those old space ship shoot-em-up games, like Ikaruga, except for one major difference, you don’t shoot a single thing. You actually use your shield to deflect enemy laser right back at them. It’s easy at first, but as more and more enemies appear, it gets harder to handle all of the shots coming your way.

Instead of giving you a set amount of lives, the games chooses to restrict you using time. At the start of a level, you are given a set amount of time to complete it. Each hit you receive lands you a 10-second penalty. Given that you complete the round by killing off all of the enemies, a new round starts and more time is added to your remaining time.

The game is pretty fun. Everyone should at least give it a try. You can find it here. Also, the Warning Forever is also a pretty cool game. One of my friends is addicted to it right now. She’s partially the reason why I was interested in this one.

Some gameplay pictures for you guys…
