I would recommend some caution for those currently playing, or planning to play, Valkyrie Profile: Lenneth. This post will probably contain some spoilers for the game. If you don’t care, continue on.

One of my first impressions of the game was that it was incredibly easy. Most bosses could be defeated in a couple of turns. Some of the bosses, I found, could be defeated with a single stroke of the sword. Of course, I didn’t know then that that was only because I had a certain sword, the Jeweled Blade, equipped on Valkyrie which had an automatic one-hit kill on those pesky Dragon Zombies.

I look back now at how foolish I was in the beginning. I’m in Chapter 7 now. Things are a lot harder. It isn’t rare for me to have serious trouble combating normals enemies. I don’t want to think about how strong the bosses are now. I think it was around Chapter 4 where thing suddenly get harder. I’m not a big fan of when games do that. It’s kind of annoying. I prefer gradually increases in difficulty. Oh well, I’m kind of used to it by now.

I’m wondering where the story of this game is. This game has a lot of critical acclaim. A lot o of RPG fanboys call it one of the best RPGs in existance. I’m sure it has a better story than merely to recruit warriors for the war against the Vanir gods. If it were my guess, it has something to do with Hrist and the Lost City of Dipan, which was featured in Chapter 6. As it is now, the Valkyrie Profile’s plot is pretty predictable and not that interesting. Here’s hoping that will change.
