Right now, I’m nearing the end of Chapter 3. I’m quite surprised how difficult this chapter has been for me thus far. Chapter 2 was pretty easy by any standards. I was killing those dragon zombie things in one turn. It was so easy, it got kind of dull.

Chapter 3 has been quite different, though. Not only are the bosses a lot harder, but the regular battles are, too. I don’t know many times I’ve been almost decimated by a group of Will O’ Wisps. Those thing are annoying.

A particular boss that gave me a real hard time was hat one demon and the deceived Odin fanatic. The demon itself was pretty easy. He didn’t take that much damage, relatively. The real damage dealer was the fanatic and his magic. One of his magic attacks could almost kill any of my characters in one hit, besides Lenneth and Angrim.

What I ended up doing was to put two magic casters in my parter, Nanami and the princess, and equipped Lenneth with the bow in order to attack the fanatic first. I used Nanami to cast a reflecting skill in order to have the fanatics magic reflect and hit him instead.

After a couple of tries, this eventually worked and I was able to kill the fanatic without my party first. The demon’s attacks weren’t that damaging, but he had some tpy eof resistance against magic, so it took a while to take him down.

I’m still loving VP. The battle system is probably one of the best I’ve seen for a turn-based RPG. It almost feels “action-y,” kind of like Legend of Dragoon, without the timed button presses, although you do have to time the attacks in such a way to maximize your hit gauge in order to use the special attacks and to deal the max amount of damage. I’d recommend VP to anyone who has a PSP.

PS: The restoration of my laptop is going somewhat smoothly. Unfortunately, my Vaio is having problems updating its version of the Files and Settings Transfer Wizard, so it looks like I’ll be unable to import my settings onto this computer, but once I borrow my friend’s mp3 player, I should be able to migrate most of my files. Btw, I was able to rescue my save file for my Civilization IV game that I made a post about.
