Lunar Silver Star Story Complete
Recently, I’ve been purchasing a lot of old-school RPGs for my PS2. One of those is Lunar Silver Star Story Complete, a wonderful RPG released by the now defunct Working Designs, albeit, I got it several months ago, so it’s not really “recently purchased,” I just finished it today (on my birthday of all days.)

| Several bromides like this one are scattered across Lunar. Don’t tell me you don’t want one. |
The story of Lunar is pretty typical of RPGs. It stars a young teenage boy and a group of friends who are trying to save the planet/rescue the girl said boy is in love with. It is interesting, however, how the plot evolves to this point. Alex, the main character, wants to become a dragonmaster, just like his hero Dyne, who supposedly sacrificed his life to save the goddess Althena. His friend Ramus wants to get rich and convinces Alex and Luna, Alex’s crush, to go with him to get a certain crystal from the White Dragon’s Cave and sell it in some faraway town. The sad events that follow (mostly deception) start a quest for young Alex to become the new dragonmaster.
Even though the story is simple enough (there aren’t very many surprises to be had in this game, ) it is entertaining none the less. The characters interact pretty well with each other (which, for us of course, means that they don’t always get along.) The music in the game is good for the most part. Nothing really that amazing, save for some. The voice acting….could be better (which becomes apparent in the voice-only parts of the game.)
I would recommend this game to anyone who loves RPGs (heck, Game Informer rated it as one of the top ten rarest games.
