Ah, it’s always nice when new stuff comes in the mail. This time I decided to go the tradition route and order through Amazon.co.jp, instead of through Yahoo! Japan Auctions by using a deputy service.
First up is Dengeki Hime Illustrations: Girls Museum 2005-2006. As you can see, the cover illustration is quite … nice. Probably the first piece of yuri to actually grace this blog (one would think that a blog with yuri in the title would actually be focused on yuri once in a while.
The book is divided into different months (January-March, April- June, July-September, and October- December.) Each section has about 20 or so illustrations in it. It’s kind of like a calendar (except, the days of the month are not included, so I guess it would be a pretty bad calendar
.)
The art Mediaworks selected for the book is (mostly) great. The is a good variety in the book. The content features all kinds of girls (maids, schoolgirls, lolis, nurses, ninjas, etc.) and ranges from cute to hentai. Almost every illustration in the book is made by a different artist. It’s a shame that Mediaworks didn’t update their page containing both Moe Side and Costume Side. I would be able to tell you all of the artists that appeared in the book. I was able to find out some of the artists by their art styles and other methods.
- Littlewitch/Nocchi
- Izumi Sakurawaza
- Aoi Nishimata/ Hiro Suzuhiro
- Urotan
- Snythetic Garden
- Takamichi
- 月音 / 硯 (don’t know their romanized names, sorry.)
- Keiichi Sumi
The book is 130 pages long (about 125 pages of illustrations.) Overall, a pretty good book.

Next in line Ohirune chu! from YUG. This book features previously published illustrations and manga (unpublished as far as I know.) The first half hold the illustrations (all colored save for one) and the second half is home to the manga.
Since this book only consists of one illustrator, it is easy to give a recommendation to people about it. If you like YUG’s works, you should buy the book. If not, don’t. To my knowledge, YUG has only worked on one anime/manga series, Petopeto-san. Other than that, he hasn’t done anything except for calendars and artbooks. There’s not that much to say about the art style. It’s quite obvious that the artist favors young girls. You’ll have to see for yourselves if the styles is right for you.
The manga featured in the second half of the book are pretty cute looking. I have no idea what’s going on in them since I can’t read a speck of Japanese, but the stories seem to be heartwarming. Not much to say besides the fact that the pictures are pretty.
